Naresh Sahota, Vice Chair

  • Employed in the financial industry for 15 years, presently serving as a Senior Tax and Technical Administrator at Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc. 
  • Lives with his wife and their 4 year old son, resident of Coquitlam since 2008 
  • Served as a Mathematics Instructor, Adult Basic Education, Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo BC (2005 – 2006) 
  • Served local community as a Professional Mathematics Tutor (12 years 
  • Served as a Page and Public Service Clerk, North York Public Library, Toronto ON (1988 – 1997) 
  • Performs on stage as a volunteer at annual Diwali (The Festival of Lights) community functions  
  • Honours Bachelor of Science Degree, Chemistry, York University, Toronto ON 1995  
Brian McBride, Treasurer
 
  • Brian and his wife have resided in Coquitlam since 1978 
  • Raised three children in this community 
  • Owned a major food import and distribution company headquartered in Coquitlam for more than 25 years 
  • Sits on the Board of the Firehall Arts Centre as well as being its Treasurer 
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and a post graduate degree in Accounting from the University of British Columbia 
  • Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC since 1976 
  • Chief Financial Officer J.S McMillan Fisheries Ltd , one of BC’s oldest integrated fishing companies
 
Erin Adams, Trustee
 
  • Regional Sales Manager, Asia, for Global Village Marketing
  • Holds BA Honours degree (English) from the University of Victoria, and MA (English) degree from McMaster University 
  • Former member of Multiculturalism Advisory Committee:  2010 - 2013 
  • Has lived in several countries and traveled extensively, particularly through Asia 
  • Lives in Coquitlam with her husband and two children 
  • Enjoys travel, karate, reading, international cuisine, playing the cello 
 

Councillor Brent Asmundson, Trustee
 
  • Brent has been an active Coquitlam resident for more than 20 years
  • He and his wife, Daniela, have raised their two children; Michael and Diana in Coquitlam
  • Brent has participated in many family friendly activities which define the City of Coquitlam
  • He has been employed as a bus driver with Coast Mountain Bus Company for the last 28 years
  • Brent is the Past President of the North East Coquitlam Rate Payers Association
  • Brent was elected to Council in 2005
 
Matt Djonlic, Trustee

  • Has lived in the Tri-Cities for 20+ years 
  • Graduate of Simon Fraser University 
  • Currently works for a local MLA 
  • Avid reader of history and addicted to podcasts 
  • Matt joined the Library Board in 2014 


Sandra Hochstein, Trustee

  • Originally from Montreal 
  • Coquitlam resident for almost 30 years 
  • Mother of 3 adult daughters who all grew up in this municipality 
  • Douglas College instructor, David Lam Campus (just a 15 minute commute each day!) 
  • Enjoys travel, historical fiction and CBC radio 
  • A poster-child for life-long learning -- currently learning how to play the ukelele


Dave Whelan, Trustee
  • Resident of Tri-Cities for over 30 years
  • Travel enthusiast (over 60 countries) and lifelong reader
  • Proud father (2) and grandfather (6)
  • Retired from senior management of TELUS
  • Former volunteer with SHARE, Variety, Zajak Foundation and Red Cross
  • Previous volunteer positions include Port Moody Public Library and Police boards; land use, transportation, parks and rec committees as well as council indemnity and LRT task forces
