The Library Link Story

Did you know the Library Link has had 56,000+ visits since service began in 2009?

The Library Link service began in 2009 as a way for the Library to bring service to outlying geographical areas in Coquitlam.

In May 2014 the Library’s first book bus was destroyed by fire. No one was injured, but the loss of the Book Bus was a huge blow to the Library and its ability to meet the needs of the community. Metro Ford, located in Port Coquitlam, graciously provided a van as a temporary replacement of the library’s colourful Book Bus.

Responding to community outcry at the loss of the service, the Library purchased a second-hand bookmobile from Sno-Isle Libraries in Washington, which was approaching end of life. The Library was  able to expand services to four days a week, as well as taking the bus to various community events and festivals throughout the year including Canada Day, Lights on Lafarge, park openings and Neighbourhood Nights.

The Library Link is now at end of life.

The brand new bus will better serve the community with more materials, more locations and more impact on literacy and underserved areas in Coquitlam.

By supporting the Library Link you are supporting literacy and learning in Coquitlam.
