Federal General Election Called

Election Canada

Canadians will be heading to the polls this fall as the 44th federal general election was called on Sunday, August 15 by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. General election takes place on Monday, September 20 with advance voting at select polling stations taking place between Friday September 10 and Monday September 13.

Canadian citizens who are at least 18 years old on election day are eligible to vote. To vote, you must be registered and be able to show proof of identity and address. Register to vote, update your address or double check if you are already registered using the Elections Canada online tool.

Voting by mail is also available for this election, as long as you apply to vote by mail before Tuesday, September 14.
