Library Board


The Library Board operates under the authority of the BC Library Act.

Currently, there are no openings for new Library Board members.



Alice Hale, Chair

Erin Adams, Vice-Chair

  • Regional Sales Manager, Asia, for Global Village Marketing
  • BA Honours (English), University of Victoria; and MA (English), McMaster University
  • Former member of Multiculturalism Advisory Committee: 2010 - 2013
  • Has lived in several countries and traveled extensively, particularly through Asia
  • Enjoys travel, karate, reading, international cuisine, playing the cello
  • Lives in Coquitlam with her husband and two children


Brian McBride, Treasurer

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and post graduate degree (Accounting), University of British Columbia
  • Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC since 1976
  • Chief Financial Officer J.S. McMillan Fisheries Ltd.
  • Owned a major food import and distribution company headquartered in Coquitlam for more than 25 years
  • Treasurer and Board member of the Firehall Arts Centre
  • Has lived in Coquitlam with his wife since 1978 and raised 3 children here


Matt Djonlic, Trustee

  • Graduate of Simon Fraser University
  • Works for a local MLA
  • Avid reader of history and addicted to podcasts
  • Has lived in the Tri-Cities for over 20 years


Julie Fisher, Trustee

  • Associate Counsel/Lawyer with Drysdale Bacon McStravick LLP, Coquitlam Office
  • BA, First Class (Psychology), and LL.B., University of Victoria
  • Past Director of the Coquitlam Foundation, TriCity Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Committee, CBA BC Women Lawyers Forum
  • Enjoys hiking local trails, historical and popular fiction, and CBC radio
  • Lives in Coquitlam (since 2001) with her husband, son, niece, and Wheaton Terrier


Natasha Knox, Trustee

  • Graduate of Simon Fraser University
  • Serves of the board of directors of the Financial Therapy Association
  • Past member of the Multicultural Advisory Committee, Culture Services Advisory Committee and the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce Events Committee
  • Volunteer activities include exam marking and exam writing with FP Canada
  • Lives in Coquitlam with husband and four children, since 2009

Dave Whelan, Trustee

  • Retired from senior management of TELUS
  • Former volunteer with SHARE, Variety, Zajak Foundation and Red Cross
  • Previous volunteer positions include Port Moody Public Library and Police boards; land use, transportation, parks and rec committees as well as council indemnity and LRT task forces
  • Loves travel (over 60 countries) and is a lifelong reader
  • Proud father of 2 and grandfather of 6
  • Resident of Tri-Cities for over 30 years


Councillor Chris Wilson, Trustee

  • Executive Director of KidSport Tri-Cities
  • 2012 SHARE Volunteer of the Year
  • Chair and coordinator of Operation Red Nose
  • Current Chair of the Universal Access-Ability Advisory Committee, Vice Chair of the Economic Advisory Committee, Council Representative on the Library Board, Vice Chair of the City/School Board Liaison Committee, Alternate Council Representative to the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable, Council Representative to the School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) Child Care Task Force, and Member of the Metro Vancouver Housing Committee
  • Has lived in Coquitlam for over 20 years

Presentations to the Board

Groups and/or individuals who want to address the Board should contact Executive Director Todd Gnissios at at least 5 days before the next Board meeting to be included in the meeting agenda.

Your request must include:

  • who will be attending
  • the organization you represent, if any
  • the topic of your presentation
  • the meeting date you wish to make your presentation

Your presentation must be under 15 minutes long.

The Board Chair has final authority on whether to allow a presentation, the time allotted, and the time given to questions from Trustees, if any.
